Glad to be part of this forum. I joined because I was trying to help a friend out and started a 2005 Chrysler Sebring/200 for her that she had dead in her driveway. Its been off the road for quite a while, but with a new battery, it started right up. We were going to put it up for sale for her, but after test driving it, I found out it was in limp mode. I have another friend in the transmission business that told me to bring it over because the code was no communication with the tcm. He said the tipm was bad and I ordered a used one on ebay and he put it in and said that was bad also. I ended up getting a replacement and he sent it over to another shop that found some greenies on a ground by the heater box. My transmission guy took it for a ride after being all fixed and ended up with a dead car miles from the shop. Now its a crank, no start, no spark. I am looking at all the videos in the paid section and I am going over to the shop on monday with my Christmas present (autel 900), a test light and a volt meter. The car has been over there for over a year and I think the mechanic is tired of looking at it. I just want to start from the basics with fresh eyes after making sure the battery is charged. I plan on hooking up the scanner to the car and looking for the 5 volt reference. I believe I can check the different modules thru the scan tool to see what it is communication with. I am hoping for some guidence with the codes that it kicks back. I am also hoping I see a cam or crank code. I read that there are some bad crank sensor “years” for that car and I have the date codes. I will also check the “air gap” on the crank sensor and the magnet on the fly wheel. When I dropped it off I was uneducated on this, but since then, I have spent countless hours educating myself on all the different systems and wiring diagrams. I will have the mitchell diagram for the wiring tomorrow, and I also asked for the ground diagram too. I don’t know if the transmission mechanic understands the system as much as he understands transmissions. The trans mechanic is not easy to speak to. Please let me know if there are any trouble spots that you know of on these vehicles for short to grounds. Happy New Year!!
