Hi all I’m new to using an oscilloscope in automotive setting.
I’m working on a Holden Cruze which is similar to the Chevy. It has a 1.8 luw petrol engine.the car has a timing belt and is giving me a p0016-00 (intake camshaft position not plausible). Other codes present are oxygen sensor 2 heater circuit related like p0036-00. The car lacks power upon acceleration and struggles to get to speed.
I managed to get the ckp and CMP signals on the scope and the signals lign up but the cam signal is slightly behind the crank signal. My question is do these signals crank and cam need to align perfectly vertically to disregard a timing issue?
Any help appreciated
I’m new to it too so take this for what it’s worth, which is not much. As I understand it, you need to compare your correlation to a known good one. If you have a Pico Scope, you have access to their library. Maybe someone who has some experience will chime in here.
Yeah I definitely agree with the need of a known good source for comparison. The only issue is that I have an Autel oscilloscope and no access to the Pico library…
If you go on the rotkee site you can search their waveforms
