I keep getting this error, P0171 running lean. I cannot find any vacuum leaks using starter fluid, TB cleaner, etc. I used to get 300 miles a tankful, now down to 225 miles. It`s also hard to start when warm unless it sits for a while.
But….I do have a small exhaust pipe leak about 6 inches before the upstream O2 sensor. Can this cause this error??
Check your fuel injectors first. If you have a DVOM, check the ohms on your fuel injectors before and after startup. There should be a consistent number across all injectors.
Exhaust leak will contribute to lean condition. Fix leak first. Lean condition with hard starting… check fuel pressure. Weak fuel pump.
High LTFT with rough idle that improves with RPM point to vacuum leak. LTFT that get higher with RPM is fuel related. Need trims to to diagnose.
