Hi Matt, i’m Jon, a fellow car enthusiast/hobbiest. I am working on my passat after a snapped timing belt I bought a used cylinder head with used cams and machined the parts. After putting together I ran it and got a p0299 underboost with a p0011 VVT timing over advanced. I checked time on belt and its good, checked chain, replaced the chain and tensioner, vvt solenoid, and vvt actuator and it has not gone away. I do not have an oscilloscope to measure the degrees of change from the cam sensor to crank. Should my next step be get a scope or are there other tactics you have up your sleeve? I believe the p0011 code is the p0299 code root problem so i’m not worried about the 299.
